About Lacas Coffee In 1919, two brothers boarded a ship in Greece and sailed west to The United States of America in search of opportunity. In 1921, the two brothers founded the Lacas Coffee Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their small coffee distribution business began in a basement storefront, where they would blend, grind and pack coffee by hand then deliver by foot and trolley car. As the business grew the brothers were in need of a more efficient means of fulfilling their customers needs. They purchased the first Lacas Coffee delivery truck, a Model T Ford. About four years after the end of World War II, the second generation of the Lacas family entered the business. One day, while walking to work the young brothers noticed a "For Sale" sign on a building on Wood Street. They agreed the building was suitable for their dreams of a facility with a coffee roaster, automated scales and new state of the art packaging equipment. They purchased the building and with time as business continued to grow each component of their dream became a reality. Distribution of Lacas Coffee was soon in four states. In a time when a handshake was golden and a man was only as good as his word, the Lacas Family excelled because of three simple factors; consistently providing the highest quality coffees available, superior customer service, and by being virtuous businessmen who treated each customer large or small with honest, sincere regard and proper business ethics. "Lacas Coffee will build the future on the principles of integrity, premium coffee and exceptional customer satisfaction" As history has a tendency to repeat itself, the third generation soon found themselves in need of a larger facility. In 1999 Lacas Coffee relocated to a state of the art coffee roasting and processing facility directly across the river from Philadelphia in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Our new facility is fully equipped with training facilities where customers and their staffs can be trained by our passionate team in any area of coffee, teas, and an entire line of related beverages that are found in today’s restaurants, shops and cafés. Through our history we have evolved into experts in importing, roasting and distributing a palette of over thirty coffees to suit a variety of market applications. From foodservice and private label, to specialty coffee, we ensure quality and put pride and passion into everything we do. We continue to be a leader in providing exceptional coffee and innovative beverage options as well as superior coffee education.
